Phoenix,
the sixth-largest city in the United States, offers a multitude of cultural
and recreational activities throughout the year. The capital of Arizona
and a major city of the rustic Southwest, it is nestled in a valley surrounded
by the Superstition Mountains. Phoenix allows visitors the opportunity to
enjoy fine dining, galleries, performing arts, outstanding museums, and
numerous outdoor sporting events.
Due to its year-round temperate climate, Phoenix is one of the golf capitals
of the world. The city has been dubbed "The Valley of the Sun" and averages
more than 300 sunny days a year, which makes it an ideal vacation spot for
outdoor enthusiasts. Hot-air ballooning, river rafting, and guided tours
of nearby mountains and canyons are just some of the activities offered.
Visitors don't have to be outdoor adventurers to enjoy Phoenix. The city
also offers cultural events that take place every day of the week. In addition
to major rock concerts in the outdoor amphitheater, The Desert Pavilion,
there are numerous museums, symphony performances, and art shows. There
is an abundance of shopping complexes selling Southwestern and Native American
jewelry and art. The famous Arizona Center, located downtown, features more
than 60 restaurants, shops, nightclubs, and entertainment venues. Visitors
can also experience a wide variety of fine restaurants, many of which offer
the unique and spicy flavors of Southwestern cuisine.
Access Arizona is an
excellent resource for what to do and where to go in any city in Arizona.
